First off, what do you mean when you say grilling and barbecuing? I’ve realized the definitions are pretty regional. Some people mean the get together and inviting people over to cook and eat outside. Some people mean just the action of cooking food on the grill, not necessarily as a party. I think this would determine the etiquette.
