Official Contest Rules- 2026 Nicest Yard contest
Please review the following rules and guidelines before participating.
Eligibility
• All homeowners within Cabernet Highlands HOA are eligible to participate.
• Yards must be maintained in compliance with HOA rules and guidelines.
Entry Requirements
All contest entries are submitted via email to pat100shea@gmail.com or using the ‘Enter A Yard’ button on the Cabernet Watch website.
The Sunshine Committee will enter eligible yards in late May.
Homeowners may enter one (1) yard, which will serve as their vote.
Homeowners cannot enter their own yard
Submission deadlines and additional instructions will be communicated in advance through the newsletter and the Cabernet Watch website.
Voting Process
Each household is permitted one (1) vote.
Homeowners may not nominate their own property.
Voting will be conducted via an online ballot using the URL provided in the newsletter and on flyers.
Voting instructions, deadlines, and submission details will be clearly communicated to all residents.
Ballots must be submitted by the stated deadline to be counted.
HOA Board members or designated volunteers will be responsible for collecting and tallying votes.
Judging Criteria
Three (3) winners will be recognized:
1st Place,
2nd Place, and
3rd Place.
• Each winner will receive recognition in the Cabernet HOA Newsletter, a certificate, and may receive prizes donated by local vendors.
Voting homeowners are encouraged to consider:
overall appearance,
curb appeal,
maintenance and upkeep,
creativity and landscaping design.
Voting is subjective and reflects the preferences of the community.
General Rules
The Nicest Yard Contest is intended to promote community pride, enhance neighborhood aesthetics, and recognize homeowners who demonstrate excellence in yard maintenance and landscaping
The contest will be held annually (or seasonally, as determined by the HOA Board).
Winners will be determined by a community-wide homeowner vote.
Three (3) winners will be selected based on the highest number of votes received.
HOA Authority/ final Decisions
The Sunshine Committee, comprised of one (1) Director from the HOA Board of Directors and volunteer residents, will oversee contest administration.
The Sunshine Committee promotes events throughout the year to encourage neighbor relations and strengthen the community.
Responsibilities include announcements, ballot distribution and collection, vote tallying,
and winner notification.
The HOA Board retains final oversight and authority.
